Our customer's Volkswagen Tiguan's factory navigation unit broke shortly after the warranty period. The unit would light up but display a black screen with white lines occasionally and the factory backup cam would not work. We tried resetting the unit by unplugging the harness in the back but the unit would not work, we knew the speakers worked as the radio still turned on with the screen blacked out.
We used the AX-VW901 module from Axxess to retain the factory functions and amplifier. The factory backup camera could not be retained so we ran a license plate mounted camera on the rear bumper. Steering controls are fully retained and the overall install doesn't look too out of place on this vehicle. The Sony XAV-AX5000's 7" capacitive screen is comparable in size to the factory touchscreen and adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to this older vehicle.
