We helped our customer replace their faulty factory head unit with a Pioneer AVH-2500NEX multimedia unit, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
We've noticed more and more owners experiencing issues with their first-gen Tiguan head units, as this is the 4th one we've needed to replace. While this particular Tiguan's head unit would power on, it would freeze on the startup screen, rendering the head unit unusable. The Volkswagen dealer quoted our customer thousands for an OEM replacement head unit, so they reached out to us for a more cost-effective solution.
We used Pioneer's AVH-2500NEX, equipped with a 6.8" touchscreen that's comparably-sized to the factory screen, with a Crux module to retain the factory steering controls and amplifier. The factory backup camera could not be retained, so we used a standalone rear backup camera mounted above the license plate, to the left of the factory backup camera. The new head unit added additional features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, modernizing our customer's in-car multimedia experience.
