We installed the Sony XAV-AX1000 in this VW Golf (Mk4 generation). The matte black design and volume knob works well in this older vehicle which does not have steering controls. The volume knob doubles as a Siri activation button as well. As this car was a GLS trim, it did have a factory Monsoon amp which does require a data module to retain. The data module also generates accessory output, illumination output, and reverse output which can be useful for many various head unit installations.
