Our customer came in looking to add GPS navigation to his 2015 Toyota Corolla S. While most leading aftermarket radio manufacturers offer an offline map option, but we prefer Kenwood's as they use a Garmin interface that has big buttons and an interface that's familiar to those that have used a Garmin portable GPS. Of course with a modern high end receiver like the Kenwood DNX575S, you do get the option of Google Maps via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto as well.
There is no shortage of media options with the DNX575S as there's a CD/DVD drive, USB, and Micro SD inputs. We also have a standard 3.5mm aux input cable and video outputs for headrest/rear monitors if the car has those options. Premium head units like this also have HD radio tuning which offers noticeably better sound quality than normal FM. There are a few stations in the Lower Mainland that offer HD Radio.
With a best-selling vehicle like the Corolla, the aftermarket support for radio replacement is excellent. With parts from Metra, iDatalink, and Axxess we were able to fully retain the steering wheel controls, backup camera, and factory USB port. Even with the stock speakers, the Kenwood head unit is able to squeeze more out as it features an advanced DSP with time alignment and EQ settings.
