We gave this customer's Mercedes-Benz B200 a new lease on life, outfitting it with hands-free telephony via Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay from the Boss Elite BE7ACP media receiver.
At only $350, it is one of the most wallet-friendly aftermarket head units featuring a capacitive touch screen, including wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As with most European vehicles from the last 15 years or so, Bluetooth was a costly option that usually only came as part of a premium audio system or technology package. Even if a vehicle was equipped with Bluetooth, it was usually only for telephony and not audio streaming. Retrofitting a Bluetooth adapter generally yields poor audio quality and connection reliability, so we always recommend replacing the factory head unit altogether with an aftermarket unit, which also allows extra functionality such as connecting an aftermarket backup camera, which is what we did here with the license plate frame-mounted backup camera system.
