We installed Thinkware's flagship dashcam, the U3000 2ch into this brand new Lexus GX 550. The U3000 2ch is a fitting camera choice for the GX 550, which is over $100,000 for a new SUV. Aside from high definition 4K front and 2K rear recording quality (with the new Sony Starvis 2 sensor), the U3000 also comes with a radar module for parking mode recording. During parking mode, it only records events that happen within the set proximity and otherwise would be in standby mode. This allows users to find more relevant footage by not having a bunch of extra footage on the memory card and extend the parking mode duration.
Installation on the GX 550 is pretty standard, and the rear camera does not affect operation of the rear window and trunk lid (see pics attached). The rear camera sits on the liner of the trunk lid, so the window opens without dragging the camera and it goes up when the trunk opens as well. We would recommend for those who buy a Toyota or Lexus hybrid to also install Thinkware's iVolt external battery pack to mitigate any potential battery issues.
