The JK Wrangler is one of the most popular vehicles on the road but despite being manufactured until 2018, it never got the better versions of Chrysler's uConnect system with the larger touchscreens. Not only that but Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were not offered on this generation Wrangler. Our customer came to us looking for more connectivity options for his truck without breaking the bank so we looked at the head units from Sony.
Sony's Apple CarPlay receivers are renowned for offering some of the best value on the market. This is because they offer an incredibly user-friendly interface, clean design that blends in with any vehicle, and a single din chassis design that is unlikely to have clearance issues when installing. The XAV-AX5000 that our customer opted for also has one of the best touchscreens of any double din receiver on the market. We love it for it's snappy response and crystal clear glass, reminiscent of smartphones and tablets.
Our customer uses this vehicle to go back and forth from Vancouver to Seattle regularly so he added the Sirius XM tuner to listen to Seahawks radio. With the Maestro RR we used to install the Sony deck into this vehicle, we also got the satellite radio antenna adapter which allows us to reuse the car's factory antenna. The Sirius tuner kit has it's own antenna but that has to be externally mounted so it wouldn't be as clean as reusing the car's original satellite antenna.
