This track toy needed a few upgrades to make daily driving a bit more comfortable. We opted for the VIOFO A119 V3 dash cam which offers exceptional 2K video recording, decent audio quality, and standard GPS logger. The GPS is great for track vehicles as it can show the speed display in the timestamp of the video (albeit at 1Hz). In the 60FPS mode, the dash cam works well as a GoPro alternative but do remember to swap out the memory card as videos will likely loop over by the time you get home after a track day.
We also hardwired the dash cam to run in parking mode. The A119 V3 was one of the first Chinese dash cams to offer true motion detection parking mode with buffered recording. We tested this feature to work pretty well, although files are not as cleverly arranged as Thinkware's dash cams. As an all-rounder though, the A119 is hard to beat for the money. The only thing this 1-channel (front only) dash cam is missing would be WiFi, but given its budget pricepoint, it can't be blamed.
We also gave the rear 3 windows an 18% tint. The Velosters are generally a difficult to tint vehicle as the rear spoiler has to be removed to get a proper measurement of the rear glass. This spoiler is held in not only by nuts and bolts but also adhesive and needs to be carefully removed. Expect to pay upwards of an extra hour of labour for the spoiler removal and reinstall as it is a risky endeavour.
