Our customer called us asking if we were able to install this Chortau dash cam he had purchased on Amazon for his Hyundai Tucson. 2-Channel dash cams like these are tricky to work with on hatchbacks and SUVs as the rear camera wire must be run through the factory grommet to not only preserve a clean appearance, but also to ensure proper weatherproofing. Many dash cam users also want to hardwire their dash cams to the fuse box which frees up clutter from the center console and helps to reduce the risk of theft.
We are familiar with installing all sorts of dash cams beyond the typical Thinkware, Blackvue, and VIOFO models we stock. We've installed most popular dash cam brands such as:
- and many many more!
The Chortau dash cam we installed in this Tucson technically has a reverse parking camera, however this newer model SUV already has a factory backup camera. So we installed the rear camera on the rear window instead of on the exterior of the car. This makes more sense for recording rear accidents as you can see further down the road and the lens stays clean. If you're looking to install it as a backup camera, it's better to point it lower down as you can see the edge of the bumper.
