Our customer recently picked up this GMC Sierra for his family to go on boating trips with his family. Being a relatively simple 2013 truck, there wasn't much in terms of comfort and convenience technology. Because multiple members of the family may drive it, he wanted a head unit capable of bluetooth but also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. He also wanted a backup camera as rear visibility isn't exactly ideal with a full size pickup truck that has a canopy.
We fitted the truck with an Alpine ILX-W650 double din head unit and license plate frame style ODX Backup Camera. We installed the radio using an interface from Crux which is great for these later model GM trucks with OnStar and data bus systems. The interface retains steering controls and generates accessory and reverse outputs, useful for aftermarket radios.
