BMW G80 M3 Competition Winter Package and Eibach Lowering Springs

We fitted this G80 M3 with our 19x9.5" Winter Package which features a square rotatable setup and the BMW Star Spec 275/35R19 Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 winter tires. While the +20 offset is already reasonably low and matches BMW's own winter package, we wanted to take it a step further with CTS 15mm spacers all around, bringing the effective offset to +5. To further dial in the stance, we fitted the car with Eibach's front only spring kit which essentially "levels" the front end wheel gap. Ride quality isn't compromised at all and adaptive damping is still retained with this setup.

BMW's xDrive technically does allow for up to 1% of variance in front and rear diameters, but we find that over time they are still happiest with a perfectly square setup. We'll be able to even out the tire wear as these are immensely torquey vehicles that are over 4000 lbs so square does offer additional benefits beyond saving the transfer case. Interestingly, BMW's factory winter package featuring the 829M wheels runs a staggered wheel fitment with square tires. This makes no sense to us as there's ample clearance to fit the same size wheel all around and that half inch stagger does make it weird to rotate wheels front to back.

While certain 18" wheels can fit the G8x chassis and still clear the massive front brakes, we prefer the 19" fitment for Winter. Having a bit more barrel clearance is nice when municipalities lay down gravel and salt on the road and will run less of a risk damaging the finish on the wheels or brakes. The 275/35R19 size still offers a decent amount of sidewall and the profile on these Michelin PA5 means you still get some curb protection. Our end result is a car that looks clean with a flush fitment with no poke and a nice even wheel gap.
