Thinkware's U3000 2CH flagship dashcam should be the new standard for anyone in need of parking recording as it has built-in radars on the front and rear camera units. When the car is parked, the radar sensors will work with the dashcam so it will only record when motion passes by within the range of the radar. You can set the distance from the radar for recordings (e.g. 1/2/3 meters from the radar). The default is 2 meters which means only motion detected within 2 meters will be recorded during parking, and this extends the duration of parking recording as it uses less power. This radar eliminates irrelevant recordings (e.g. If a car is parked at a grocery store, most people don't bother for footage that happen in the next aisle over).
This G30 5 Series came in for Thinkware's U3000 2CH (front and rear) and iVolt external battery pack. The iVolt pack mitigates any battery draw warning that BMW's (and other European cars) like to show even if there's no actual electricity being drawn. Most BMW's in the E/F/G chassis have their fuse box in the trunk, and we inserted the iVolt underneath the trunk floor for the 5 Series. The U3000 front camera is a bit bulkier than the outgoing U1000, but clearance was not an issue for this 5 series.
