This 2020 Tacoma Sport came in for a set of new wheels and tires. These Sport trim trucks come with a very street oriented set of Toyo or Firestone all seasons that don't look great or offer the winter performance many customers are looking for. Rather than just going with an M+S tire, an all terrain tire with the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol will offer much better and safer winter operation. We also upgraded the halogen headlight bulbs to the Lumens Sportline LED for better night time driving. The projectors do a great job of managing the light and not blinding oncoming traffic.
We went with the Replika R213 which is designed for 6 lug Toyota/Lexus trucks. This wheel can take the factory TRD center caps which are around $20-30 a piece from the dealership. The wheels are hubcentric and can take the factory flat seat lug nuts. The colour is a satin black just like the Toyota TRD Pro wheels.
For the tires, we went with the passenger rated Falken Wildpeak AT3W. These all terrains are one of our best-sellers as they deliver great on and off road performance, along with solid winter capability. Not only do they enhance the look of the vehicle with its aggressive sidewall lugs. For a smaller truck like the Tacoma, the standard load tire is quite sufficient with its 115T load rating. This tire is available in a light truck E-load spec (121/118S) however we find that unnecessary given the payload and tow rating of this truck. In terms of weight, the light truck version adds an additional 7 pounds of rotational/unsprung mass which will hurt acceleration, braking, and fuel economy.
