After already having his head unit replaced under warranty once through Toyota and having it break again just outside of warranty coverage, our customer looked towards an aftermarket replacement. Generally these Sienna's and late-model Toyotas are very reliable but the factory radios consistently appear to be a weak point. This particular Sienna posed a bit of a challenge as it is a fully loaded vehicle with rear entertainment system, factory backup camera, front and rear parking sensors, and steering controls.
We were able to retain the sensors, camera, and steering controls via the iDatalink Maestro RR module and Toyota specific harness. iDatalink also makes a USB adapter which we used. The USB port is important since it's how Android Auto and Apple Carplay are used on this Pioneer AVH-2440NEX head unit. This head unit also has DVD playback and a motorized screen, to enable video in motion, you simply need to add the PAC TR1 bypass module for Pioneer and Alpine head units. A Maestro compatible head unit is also required to control the digital fader on these Toyota vehicles with factory JBL amplifiers.
