Our customer picked up this 1997 Toyota Corolla recently for Winter use and found the factory tape deck and 2 speaker system to be very underwhelming. As he had a collection of CD's he went with the Pioneer DEH-S5200BT which adds bluetooth, CD, USB, and auxiliary inputs to this 22 year old vehicle. As this is a lower trim of Corolla, it only had a pair of speakers which were on the front door. The back of the speakers had some water and they weren't in the best shape. Additionally, being an entry level A-to-B type car, Toyota probably didn't really feel a need to invest much into the sound system at the time. We upgraded these to a Kicker KS 4" speaker which is a direct drop in for the factory speaker bracket. This is a coaxial speaker so it has a half inch silk-dome tweeter in the middle to deliver better high notes. We've always liked the Kicker KS speakers for their shallow mounting depth compared to other entry-level/mid-range speakers.
