This 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander was fitted with our best-selling Sony XAV-AX5000 Apple CarPlay and Android Auto double din head unit. We used an Axxess interface to retain the OEM Rockford Fosgate factory amplifier and the ASWC-1 to retain the steering wheel controls. While these modules are expensive, they are typically required to retain full functionality of the vehicle's systems and make installation much easier. Additionally, we added a license plate bracket style reverse camera which is clearly displayed on the 7" capacitive screen of the Sony receiver!
This sort of setup runs for around $1200-1300 and greatly enhances the driving experience. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are great for reducing distractions while driving and providing useful information like navigation and messages. The backup camera is great, especially with taller vehicles like this as small objects and even children may be in the driver's blind spot. All-in-all, this system greatly modernizes this vehicle that's just about a decade old but still running strong.
