With a ten year old car it's no surprise that our customer found his Sebring lacking in the infotainment department. He was handing this car down to his daughter and wanted to give it some modern features to make the driving experience more enjoyable. He opted for the Sony XAV-AX100 Apple CarPlay receiver as it offers a very user-friendly interface and excellent features for the money. While it does not have built-in maps for offline navigation, Apple and Android users can take advantage of Google Maps which can be projected onto these receivers (data charges may apply).
Taking full advantage of the touchscreen display found on this receiver, we also added a reverse camera for parking. The rear visibility on this convertible is quite poor so the camera is a great investment, especially for a new driver. The parts and labour cost for the backup camera is less than the lowest insurance deductible with ICBC, so if it helps avoid scratching one bumper it makes up for the cost. With this particular Chrysler, we had to bypass the factory Boston Acoustics system amplifier which does incur additional install time and labour costs.
